How to Run Updates on Your Mac

IMPORTANT – Before running updates: make sure that all of your work is saved, your Mac is plugged into power, and you allow up to 45 minutes for updates to run. Interrupting the update process could cause system issues and loss of data.

  1. From the Apple menu  in the top left corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  2. If updates are available, you will see “Other updates are available.” Click on “More Info” to see any available updates. Noteif the More Info option is not present, that means your system is up to date. The “Upgrade Now” button is for system upgrades not updates.

3. Click “Install Now” to run the updates. Your Mac may or may not restart as part of the update.
