Staff Password Change Instructions – Spring 2021

Macintosh Users

  1. Make sure you know your current password
    • Verify by signing into ic.svvsd.org with your username and password
  2. Go to a district site and make sure your computer is connected the svvsd Wi-Fi network, either by going to your building or by going to one of the district’s Wi-Fi Hotspots
  3. Go to password.svvsd.org and sign in
  4. Reset your password to meet the new standards
    • Minimum password length: 12 characters
    • Previous passwords may not be reused
    • Two of the following must be followed if the password is less than 16 characters:
      • Passwords may not contain a significant portion of the person’s name
      • Passwords may not contain a significant portion of the person’s last password
      • Passwords may not contain any character 3 times or more consecutively
      • Passwords must not contain a restricted pattern (see Password Manager for list)
  5. Restart your computer
  6. Sign in with your new password
  7. If you get a dialog box asking you to Create New Keychain or Update Keychain Password, choose Update Keychain Password and enter your previous password when prompted
    • If you have any problems with the Apple Keychain, please refer to this support article on how to fix those issues
  8. You will need to sign back into email and other resources with your new password
  9. Update the password on other devices where district resources are accessed

Microsoft Windows or Chromebook Users

  1. Make sure you know your current password
    • Verify by signing into ic.svvsd.org with your username and password
  2. Go to a district site and make sure your computer is on svvsd Wi-Fi network, either by going to your building or by going to one of the district’s Wi-Fi Hotspots
  3. Go to password.svvsd.org and sign in
  4. Reset your password to meet the new standards
    • Minimum password length: 12 characters
    • Previous passwords may not be reused
    • Two of the following must be followed if the password is less than 16 characters:
      • Passwords may not contain a significant portion of the person’s name
      • Passwords may not contain a significant portion of the person’s last password
      • Passwords may not contain any character 3 times or more consecutively

  5. Restart your computer
  6. Sign in with your new password
  7. Update your password on your other devices where you access district resources
