iPad Projection with USB to Lightning Cable

You will need an iPad 2 or later, a Lightning to USB cable and a Macintosh laptop computer with Apple QuickTime Player installed to use these directions below:

Plug your iPad into the MacBook laptop computer using the Lightning to USB cable.

The first time this is done the iPad must Trust the computer.

On your MacBook computer Apple iTunes may launch. Quit iTunes.

On the MacBook computer, use the Spotlight Search function to locate and open QuickTime Player.

If you have macOS Catalina (version 10.15) or later you will also need to go into System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy Tab > Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording. All three settings should be enabled for the iPad.

From the Finder menu towards the upper left corner click on  File > New Movie Recordingscreen-shot-2016-11-30-at-7-12-53-am

Click on the downward pointing carrot next to the red record button. Under Camera in the contextual menu, select the iPad you would like to display.

The iPad will be displayed. Landscape is best for projecting. Use the Orientation Lock button to keep the iPad from rotating.
