Cyberpatriot Setup

This is to provide supplemental setup information to prepare for the CyberPatriot competition.
Download the software as indicated in the email provided by the CyberPatriot organization.  As instructed below, download the software to the Public Documents folder on the local computer.
The set up instructions work as presented in the email. Additional instructions are as follows:
– Win7Zip is already installed on Windows computers in the District so no need to download this
– VMware Player requires Admin access to install so we will need to push it out from the management server.  DTS will need the service tags of the computers on which it needs to be installed or a sample service tag if it is to be installed on an entire lab.
– Although not necessary, it is recommended to download and extract the Virtual Machine image and the MD5 check utility to the Public Documents folder so that the files are accessible for anyone who logs in.
– Launching the virtual machine image creates a few pop ups, see the included  walk-through below to get to the virtual desktop

Instructions for launching Cyberpatriot virtual machine:

–  Go to > Start > All Programs > VMware > VMware Player

– When the Software Updates box pops up click “Skip This Version”

– Click the option “Open a Virtual Machine”

– Browse to where you extracted the virtual machine.  If it was Public Documents it will look like this

– Select the virtual machine and click “open”
– Click “Play Virtual Machine”

-Click “Ok” on the Hint Box

– Click “Remind Me Later” on the software update box that pops up
– Start solving security issues
