iPad Missing at School Process

This process is used to find a missing district iPad when it is likely in a district building and has been missing for less than a week.

 Classroom Sets (PreK)

  • Teacher informs School Administrator or LTP – Site Coordinator that the district iPad is missing along with the asset tag
  • School Administrator or LTP – Site Coordinator:
    • Log into JamfControl and select your site
    • Choose iPad Inventory from the options at the top center after logging in
    • Click to select the asset tag of the missing device and click the Report Missing link
  • When the asset tag number is entered, the room number or description of room near where the iPad was last connected will be displayed
  • All missing (and found) devices will show up in the iPad Inventory > Missing tab
    • It may be necessary to Refresh the view for current data
  • To report the district iPad found, click on Report Found in the Missing tab

Individually Assigned iPads (K-5 Students)

Note: This process currently only works for our elementary student iPads.

  • Student
    • Logs into Infinite Campus on a computer
      • Clicks Locate My iPad (lower left column)
      • The following data is displayed
        • Building: school abbreviation where the iPad was last connected to svvsd wireless
        • Near Room/Area: room number or description of room near where the iPad was last connected
        • Association Time: when the iPad was last connected
        • Status:
          • Still Active – the iPad is currently connected
          • Gone/off/sleeping – the iPad is NOT currently connected
      • Searches near the room/area specified
      • If not located, informs School Administrator or LTP – Site Coordinator that the district iPad is missing and what areas were searched
  • School Administrator or LTP – Site Coordinator:
    • Verifies the student has searched as specified
    • Log into JamfControl and select your site
    • Choose iPad Inventory from the options at the top center after logging in
    • Click to select the asset tag of the missing device and click the Report Missing link
  • When the asset tag number is entered the room number or description of room near where the iPad was last connected will be displayed
  • All missing (and found) devices will show up in the iPad Inventory > Missing tab
    • It may be necessary to Refresh the view for current data
  • To report the district iPad found, click on Report Found in the Missing tab
