New LTP iPad Teacher Setup

Complete Initial Set Up

  • You may have to power the iPad on first. Press the button on the upper top right of the device and hold it until you see the Apple symbol appear.
  • Swipe to the right when you see the Hello page.
  • Select your language.
  • Select United States for Country / Region.
  • If you see a Quick Start window, tap Set Up Manually.
  • Choose “svvsd” for your Wifi. Enter your SVVSD user ID & password, tap Trust to trust the certificate and Next to advance.
  • At the remote management window, tap Next to continue.
  • Enter your SVVSD user ID & password and tap Next.
  • Tap Enable Location Services.
  • Tap Get Started.

Create a Passcode When Prompted

  • Set a six-digit passcode that you will not forget. Use something unique – not “123456.”

Connect to SVVSD MDM

MDM stands for “Mobile Device Management.” This is the program through which the district is able to make available free and paid apps.

  • Launch Self Service (it’s probably on the second home page).
  • You should see all the apps you can currently download and install from the district. Examples include “Explain Everything” and “Notability.”
  • In the upper left corner are three dots – Tap these to open a menu of categories of apps and configuration profiles you can install.
  • Tap Install to install an app or configuration profile.

Set up Email & Calendar

  • Launch Self Service.
  • Tap the three dots in the upper left corner to open the menu and choose Email.
  • Tap Install to install the SVVSD Mail configuration profile.
  • Click the home button on your device to go back to the home screen.
  • Launch Settings
  • You’ll be prompted for your password twice. Enter your SVVSD password twice.
  • Tap on Accounts & Passwords in the left column and then tap on the SVVSD ActiveSync account on the right to select it.
  • In the right column turn OFF calendars and tap Delete to confirm. This will ensure you don’t have duplicate calendar events show up.

Note: All SVVSD employees are required to change their passwords every two months. Whenever you change your password, you will to update your email and calendar passwords on your device, too.


Log in to App Store and iCloud, Turn on Find my iPad

Note: You must have an Apple ID to continue.

  • Open Settings.
  • On the left tap Sign into your iPad.
  • Enter your Apple ID (an email address) and your password.
  • Tap Sign In and enter your passcode.
  • Once signed in, tap iCloud on the right.
  • Scroll down and tap Find My iPad.
  • Make sure Find My iPad is ON. Turn  ON Send Last Location as well.
  • On the left side, find iTunes & App Store and make sure you’re signed in here, too.
