Affordable Internet Options

Currently, low cost options for Internet access are available to qualifying families from the following sources:

Comcast (Xfinity) Internet Essentials

Note: In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), Comcast is offering 2 months of free internet service for all new Internet Essentials customers beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. Click here to learn more and apply for the program.

Free Xfinity WiFi Hotspots: In addition, Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity customers. To find a hotspot near you, visit Once at a hotspot, select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots, and then launch a browser.


The City of Longmont’s Sharing the NextLight program provides a free NextLight connection to qualifying low-income families in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Click here to learn more and apply for the program.

Longmont does have free WiFi service in several parks where it was installed in 2012 as a thank-you to local voters for freeing Longmont to offer broadband services. Currently, the free WiFi (called Public WiFi) is available at:


In response to COVID-19, Spectrum will offer free Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. Installation fees will be waived for new student households. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. More information about the program can be found here.

SVVSD Community Wifi

To support student learning and access to the internet during school closures due to the coronavirus health crisis, St. Vrain Valley Schools has created community Wifi hotspots.

To connect: Look for either SVVSD or SVVSD-guest wireless on your device. To connect to the SVVSD wireless network, you will be required to enter a district username and password.
