SVVSD District Technology Services(DTS) is working to support the increasing use of the District’s networks. In the past, DTS has discovered a number of unauthorized personal devices and network modifications which have caused problems relating to network performance, connectivity or security. Here are some examples:
- Wireless access points.
- Routing access points.
- Hot spots.
- Other network sharing devices.
- Moving network connections.
- Incorrect network patch cables.
Devices found on the District network that have not been approved for use by District Technology Services will be disconnected. If the owner of the device can be identified they will be advised why the devices was removed. If the device is reattached to the network, additional consequences per District Policy (EHC – Technology, Access and Digital Communication and EHC-R Terms, Conditions and Responsible Use Guidelines ) may apply.
As our District moves ahead with the Learning Technology Plan (LTP) and increases the use of network and Internet resources, any slowness or disruption in service will cause severe interference with curriculum. We are always trying to make sure the network continues to meet the needs of the District and appreciate your help.
If you have any questions regarding devices you want to attach to the network, or devices you are currently using please contact the Help Desk or any of the District Technology staff members.
