Reimaging a computer is the process of erasing it and copying new system software, configurations, and district applications from a mirror image created on a master computer. In many years, we recommend that staff computers be reimaged, but are recommending that you only bring your computer in to be reimaged if you need the newest version of Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud for your work. The district license for Creative Suite includes Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, and several other applications. If you decide to have your computer reimaged, please back up all data prior to bringing it in to DTS.
Please use the following chart to determine if your computer should be reimaged:
|Mac OS X 10.6.8||Mac OS X 10.8 or 10.9||Windows 7|
|Has Creative Suite||No need to reimage||Reimage only if newest version of Creative Suite desired||New image is not yet available; reimage only if newest version of Creative Suite desired|
|Does not have Creative Suite||Should be reimaged||N/A||New image is not yet available, but should be reimaged|
Teacher desktop computers:
If you are a middle school teacher and have a Mac mini provided by the Learning Technology Plan, DTS staff will be upgrading it to Mac OS X 10.9 over the summer or fall to give you the ability to use the newest versions of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. This will be an in-place upgrade; your computer will not be erased.
To set up a work order to have your computer reimaged, please use the work order form (choose “Staff Computer Re-image” toward the bottom of the page).
